Let’s change the way we eat, let’s change the way we live, let’s change the way we treat each other. An influential individual stated this and I feel that it goes hand and hand with the lessons that we took in today. First off, the boys took the initiative to give an effort by sharpening up their looks for the US consulate presentation that took place later on in the day. Communication is a very important aspect in our daily lives which thankfully Brooke scheduled a morning language class to improve our vocabulary in Cantonese and Mandarin. This class made me aware of the importance of learning to speak my native language and how it can represent a sense of culture. Growing up, I thought of language class as a burden and never saw the significance in how it can impact a person by being the bridge between two languages. After attending today’s class, I hold a different perspective of language which is to embrace what I’ve learned and that has helped me grasp the two diverse languages easier.
We revisited Conservation International to follow up on a presentation by David Yeung about his company called Green Monday. Green Monday’s goal is to raise awareness on problems that we face everyday such as climate change and global food insecurity. They had an unusual way of approaching the problem which was to bring the positive out of eating cleaner rather than criticizing the long term effects of consuming meat. The quote within the first paragraph relates in how Green Monday’s initial plan to create change deals with changing the diet habits of individuals such as implementing the amount vegetarian meals to change the daily mindset of consumers. This will alter the client's behavior without conflicting with their meat preferences in a drastic matter. In addition, Green Monday strives to finance their day to day and adding small start ups to help reach a wider market. An example of their strategy was to offer us a varied selection of vegetarian meals only.

Upon the ending of our presentation by David Yeung, we were off the to US consulate for another presentation by the representative of the US department of Environmental Relations. He expressed the concern of the growing population from 7-9 billion and the decrease of food insecurity by 10%. In addition, climate change threatens the overall health of our Earth. This relates back to the original quote in how we have to change the way we communicate amongst one another. He brought up the importance of establishing healthy relations throughout the world relating in the field of environmental sustainability. An example of practicing sustainability in Hong Kong would be the new policy of restricting the use of high sulfur content found in diesel fuel used to power ships entering and leaving the ports.
At the end of our expedition, we took an adventurous trip to HK peak which was breathtaking all around. We had the opportunity to view both sides of the peak which had a scenery of Earth’s beauty and the urban night life of Hong Kong. This was a view like no other where one would have to experience it to grasp the beauty of what was in front of us. Today by far had to be one of my top five favorite days in Hong Kong. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but this view that we saw today is indescribable.
