Today was an absolutely amazing day. We kicked off the morning with a delicious breakfast of chocolate cake to celebrate July 4th, as well as some more traditional breakfast food like croissants and yogurt! Soon after, we departed by our bus to the Hong Kong shore. We were all so excited for the day ahead, as we were to go out on the water on board the Seahorse to hopefully get a glimpse of some Pink Dolphins!
Once we got off of the bus, we eagerly looked into the water, but we were dismayed to see that there was litter strewn within. This is one of the environmental concerns of Hong Kong-- polluted waters. However, AYLP students did not get their spirits dampened and we embarked on the boat excitedly.
When we got onto the boat, we all rushed over to the deck and peered over the railings to look at the beautiful surroundings. We were all mesmerized by the views and loved it! We stopped for thirty minutes to get into the water, jumping off the top deck many times and wading in the perfectly soothing water. Once out of the water, we enjoyed a delicious potluck-style lunch, listening to the adults tell their inspirational career pathways as we ate.
When we neared the fishermen who were reeling in their nets of fish, the Pink Dolphins came out! Everyone was taking photos and we were all amazed at how close we were to them. At some points they were only about 20 feet away! They were truly beautiful and awesome to look at.
Once we got back to the shore, we headed over to a shopping mall, where we ate dinner. We had a great selection of different Asian foods, and afterwards we finally ended the long fun-packed day with a fun reflection on the bus. So excited for what's ahead!
