Today has been quite the day for me. I woke up with a stomach bug so was on bed rest, but only after an amazing day yesterday.
Yesterday my home stay partner, Pien Pien, took me out to this amazing water park in Guang Dong that was so fun. We were able to meet up with quite a few other groups and we all went on water slides, played in the wave pool, and had loads of fun together. At 18:00 we all broke apart and went our separate ways. My host family treated me to this amazing vegetarian cuisine that was fabulous. Everything was so delicious and by the time the meal was over I was stuffed. Then, another pleasant surprise! We went out to karaoke with other groups and we all had fun and sang and laughed until it was time to go home.
Meeting my host family and creating such great connections with everyone has been amazing.
Today, after I slowly recovered, we went out to this wonderful vegetarian buffet that was delicious. Although I was limited to light foods, I was able to enjoy every bite. Then my family took my on a driving tour of Zhong Shan and we visited the Shipyard park that we toured with the school. Last but not least, we took a detour on the way home and visited a 300 year old well and tasted that water that was so pure and delicious.
I am so grateful for my host family and the wonderful things they've done for me. They treated me so sweetly during my illness and made sure I was as comfortable as can be. I look forward to hearing all the adventures other groups had!
See you soon!

This picture is of my relatives (grandparents to great great grandparents), which were hanging next to an altar at my mother's old house. Today Katie, Candy, Joy, and I went to Nam Long, a small area of Zhongshan where my mother lived until she immigrated to America. It was amazing to see where she came from, and to meet some distant relatives there for the first time who showed us around a bit. We had a lot of fun today!
